Community Outreach

Mocha Mom’s Solano County Chapter truly believes in doing our part in giving back to the community we live in and teaching our Children to do the same.

Our community outreach projects for the 2008 year consist of an Education Information Exchange Meeting, March of Dimes, March for Babies Walk-a-thon and making a donation of school supplies to a local school. Following are highlights for each event.

Education Information Exchange Meeting

Solano County Mocha Moms had our first Education Information Exchange on April 26, 2008.  The event was open to the community and hosted a number of speakers to share information on various educational options.  Speakers and participants shared their experiences, advice and expertise on topics that ranged from home schooling, preschool, private school through college and vocational schooling options.  The event was a huge success.  Specials thanks to First 5 Solano, our speakers and participants that helped to make this another Mocha Success!

March of Dimes, March for Babies Walk-a-thon

Last year the Solano County Mocha Moms participated in March for Babies.  March for Babies is sponsored by the non-profit organization March of Dimes. The March of Dimes mission is to improve health of babies by preventing birth defects, premature birth and infant mortality. March for Babies raise millions of dollars each year to help support this mission.  Solano County Mocha Moms contributed a total of $375.  We walked over 6 miles to support this wonderful cause.  Thank you to all the participants and sponsors that helped to make this event another Mocha success!!!

School Supplies Donation

For the past two years, we have made a school supplies donation to a local middle school for children in need.   Mocha Moms realize that some children don’t always have the means to obtain the necessary school supplies.  Therefore, it has been our goal to work with the Vice Principal at Springstowne Middle School in Vallejo and provide her with supplies that she can distribute to a number of students within her school.   We are proud to announce that, this year, the project was funded by our own Mocha Children.  Our children managed a refreshment stand at our annual garage sale and they agreed to use their profits to purchase school supplies for children in need.  We are so proud of them and we applaud them for their willingness to give back to their community.
