HISTORY
Mocha Moms, Inc. began with the publishing of a newsletter called Mocha Moms in the hopes of connecting with other at-home mothers of color across the country. The newsletter was intended to encourage these mothers to feel good about their choice as well as to provide information to help them be the best and most important influence in their children's lives. The first Mocha News was distributed to over 100 moms across the country in the spring of 1997. From this newsletter the original moms decided to form a support group called Mocha Moms, Inc. The first support group meeting was held in October of that year, in Cheverly, MD. There are now over 100 chapters throughout the United States and the organization is continually growing and evolving to meet the needs of our moms, their families, and the communities they live in. MISSION & PURPOSE Mocha Moms, Inc. is a nationwide support group for at-home mothers of color. These women have chosen to modify or eliminate employment outside the home in order to devote more time to their families. The primary mission of Mocha Moms, Inc. is to support and encourage women who are making parenting a priority in this season in their lives. Mocha Moms, Inc. welcomes people of all religions, races, educational backgrounds and income levels. Mocha Moms, Inc. serves as an advocate for at-home mothers of color and encourages the spirit of community activism within its membership. Anyone who supports the mission of Mocha Moms, Inc. is welcome to join. |

WELCOME Thank you for visiting our site. ~ ~ Message From the President ~ ~ It has been my absolute pleasure serving as the Solano County Chapter President for the past 2 years and I truly look forward to what this year holds for our chapter. This is our 8th year as a chapter and my 7th year as a member. My children, currently 8 and 13, have grown up in Mocha Moms and probably don't remember it any other way. I'm very proud to say that the ladies of Mocha Moms have become a part of my life; a part of my family.
I am very fortunate to be able to work with a dynamic group of women whose commitment to Mocha Moms is definitely the glue that keeps us together. We are a diverse group of women that share a dedication to family, education, community and friendship. We strengthen these bonds through family nights, monthly Mom’s nights, annual holiday parties and picnics, as well as monthly support group meetings. I look forward to what we have in store for this year, including more joint events with other local chapters.
In the past, we have had the opportunity to participate in the March of Dimes for Babies Walk-a-thon, host an Education Information Exchange and the Vallejo Outreach Festival. This year we will continue our tradition of community service and the fundraising that supports these activities. Mocha Moms is an incredible group of women of Mocha Dads and Kids supporting them at every turn. While many of our members are at-home moms, many also work full-time or part-time outside the home, have home businesses and are students. We welcome all who support our mission. So, take a look around our site and if you would like to learn more about our chapter, please join us at one of our chapter events.
